- Assistant Director of Homeownership Lending
Description
Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as Assistant Director of Homeownership Lending Operations.
This important role reports to the Director of Homeownership Lending and oversees the Business Development, Strategic Lending (retail origination channel), and Underwriting departments, providing support and direction to department managers. The position is responsible for driving operational efficiency, risk management, and quality control and it plays a key role in shaping lending strategies, supporting program development, building strong partnerships with lenders and stakeholders, and promoting Virginia Housing’s mission. A deep understanding of mortgage lending practices and regulatory requirements is paramount along with the ability to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs while safeguarding portfolio integrity. An understanding of geographic housing needs across the Commonwealth of Virginia is valuable.

Requirements
To be successful in this role you must possess:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
Several years of management experience in mortgage lending, specifically related to residential originations, underwriting, and operations.
Extensive knowledge of mortgage lending policies, regulations, and loan programs.
Experience managing quality control for correspondent lenders.
Understanding and experience with underwriting guidelines for Conventional, USDA, FHA, and VA lending.
Prior experience leading and mentoring teams.
Experience in process improvement, leading process and procedure documentation design, and analytic skills.
Effective presentation and communication skills.
Experience assisting with design and implementation of residential lending programs and Loan Origination System design.
Knowledge of Mortgage Revenue Bond requirements preferred.
