The Commercial Loan Officer II is responsible for developing, managing, and growing business relationships within an assigned market. This includes originating, analyzing, structuring, and servicing commercial loan relationships to ensure profitable portfolio growth. The position serves as the primary sales and relationship contact for business members, ensuring a high level of service, sound credit decisions, and strong relationship profitability.
Essential Functions:
Business Development & Relationship Management
Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of commercial clients, ensuring strong relationship retention and profitability.
Proactively develop new business relationships through networking, calling, and community involvement.
Identify opportunities to cross-sell Credit Union products and services to meet the financial needs of business members.
Partner with assigned branches to support business development goals and deliver consistent service to referred clients.
Serve as a trusted advisor and resource for small business members, providing tailored financial solutions.
Participate in civic and community events to promote Highmark Credit Union’s presence and reputation.
Loan Origination & Portfolio Management
Evaluate, structure, and present commercial loan requests for approval, ensuring sound credit judgment and compliance with policy.
Coordinate with underwriting, branches, and members to ensure timely and accurate processing of loan requests.
Oversee the administration of assigned loan portfolios, maintaining acceptable levels of technical exceptions, delinquencies, and charge-offs.
Complete timely loan reviews and ensure appropriate portfolio yield.
Assist or lead collection and workout efforts on assigned accounts when necessary.
Sales Support & Collaboration
Provide sales and product support to branch staff, helping them identify and refer business opportunities.
Collaborate across departments to enhance member service and ensure seamless delivery of Credit Union solutions.
Stay current on Credit Union policies, procedures, and lending products.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitor products, market trends, and economic conditions in the assigned region.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to:
Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act)
Fair Lending
Regulation Z (Truth in Lending)
Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML)
OFAC compliance
Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA)
Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA)
Adhere to Credit Union lending policies and procedures to ensure sound risk management and portfolio quality.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or similar field
3 to 5 years of lending experience in Business lending and/or Commercial Real Estate Lending and Relationship Management with SBA experience a plus
Knowledge of consumer, commercial and real estate lending practices and procedures including credit analysis
Knowledge of Credit Union services and products including the legal and regulatory requirements
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
Must pass required background check
