JOB DESCRIPTION Job Summary:
The Senior Endorsement Underwriter is a critical technical role within our Underwriting Center, responsible for the underwriting analysis, pricing, and negotiation of commercial policy changes and service requirements. This role manages a complex portfolio of business, serving as a key liaison between field underwriters and agency partners. You will exercise independent judgment to ensure that all endorsements align with our corporate risk appetite while maintaining high-touch service standards for our brokerage plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and underwrite complex endorsement requests by analyzing loss history, exposure changes, and policy forms to ensure continued account profitability.
- Utilize underwriting principles to price mid-term changes. Proactively negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with agents to address concerns and overcome objections.
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned brokers and field offices. Manage the end-to-end service lifecycle of the portfolio, ensuring high retention and account integrity.
- Partner closely with Local/Field Underwriters to communicate the impact of endorsements on renewals and long-term account strategies.
- Maintain rigorous documentation of the underwriting thought process and decision-making rationale. Ensure all actions adhere to jurisdictional regulations and internal corporate audit standards.
- Meet or exceed al Service Level Agreements (SLA) for assigned portfolio of business.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications & Key Competencies
- 3-5 years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting, financial services, or a high-volume analytical risk environment.
- Strong foundational knowledge of P&C underwriting principles, policy language, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to convey complex financial or risk-based concepts clearly and persuasively to both internal stakeholders and external agents.
- Superior critical thinking skills
- Proven track record of handling difficult conversations, negotiations, managing agency expectations, and resolving objections through collaborative problem-solving.
- Proficiency in modern underwriting platforms, CRM tools, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
