Asset Based Lending (“ABL”) Senior Underwriter with ten+ years of applicable experience. The Senior Underwriter is responsible for managing the underwriting and approval process of prospective clients as per Access Capital’s (“ACI”) Credit Policy and Procedures. The Senior Underwriter will work in close communication with new business originators to qualify prospective clients and structure asset-based lending facilities. The Senior Underwriter will manage and perform all tasks necessary to assess and analyze new loans and prospective borrowers, and ultimately close such transactions. The Senior Underwriter will also perform additional forms of financial analysis for related underwriting on other forms of loans such as term loans, acquisition financing, etc. Senior Underwriter will work in conjunction with new business originators, other underwriters, prospective clients, portfolio management and loan operations, to structure and document transactions, mitigate risks and onboard new clients. Senior Underwriter will also coordinate and manage legal counsel, field examiners and other third-party entities to ensure (i) transactions are appropriately documented; (ii) issues are appropriately identified and resolved and (iii) transactions are executed in an efficient and cost-effective manner as well as structured in a manner consistent with ACI’s Credit Policy.
Senior Underwriter should have ABL experience with the ability to quickly assess the senior debt requirements to make a decision to proceed or decline loan requests, and should be oriented toward a deal driven environment and capable of managing multiple transactions simultaneously under tight time pressure.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze loan request materials and structure credit facilities for same. Determine the transaction risks and develop appropriate mitigants.
Analyze historical and projected financial statements (including sensitized projection models, when applicable), credit reports, personal financial statements etc. Validate collateral and calculate overall liquidity, availability, and covenants.
Coordinate, schedule and analyze field examinations.
Manage the filing of UCC’s and ordering of lien and litigation searches on prospective clients and conduct credit and background due diligence on the prospect’s principals. Assess competition, industry and market comparables and relate it to the proposed borrower in terms of risks to the borrower's business model and the lender’s exit strategy.
Work with legal counsel in negotiating and documenting new and existing loans.
Prepare and present memorandums to facilitate the loan approval process, outlining transaction rationale, transaction strengths and weaknesses, risks and mitigants.
Coordinate and communicate with new business originators, portfolio managers, and senior management to ensure awareness of transaction status and progress, and that collective input and concerns are considered and addressed.
Ensure that legal and loan file documentation is current, accurate and in good order.
Requirements
Business/Accounting/Finance/Economics degree preferred. Proficient in software applications such as Microsoft Word, Teams, and Excel.
