Management Accountant role in global defence business | Newly created Brisbane team Your new company
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a global defence organisation that has recently secured major contracts in Australia and is now establishing and building its local presence. With strong international backing and a proven operating model globally, this business is in growth mode across the Australian market, with Brisbane set to become a key hub for its regional operations. They are working exclusively with Hays Recruitment to build the finance team, and looking to source an experienced management / project Accountant on a full-time permanent basis.

Your new role
This is a newly created Management Accountant position, forming part of a growing Brisbane-based finance function. You will play a key role in supporting project-based financial management and reporting, working closely with both local and international stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the month-end close process, including journals, reconciliations and variance analysis
• Assisting with project accounting, including revenue recognition and cost tracking
• Delivering management reporting and financial insights to support decision-making
• Partnering with project teams to provide financial analysis and performance insights
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and planning processes
• Assisting with audit and statutory compliance requirements
• Contributing to the development of processes and controls in a growing finance team

What you'll need to succeed

• Degree qualified in Accounting or Finance
• CA/CPA qualified or working towards
• Strong technical accounting and analytical capability
• Experience in project accounting or similar environment highly regarded
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving business
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders
• A proactive mindset with the ability to learn, adapt and grow within a scaling organisation
